A little bit of Labrador history
Labrador Retrievers, originally from Newfoundland, were initially used to work along fisherman, helping to pull in nets and catch fish that escaped from fishing lines. After bring croseed with Setter, Spaniels and other Retrievers, the modern Lab was born and honed its skill as a true retriever. From this point in the breed's history, "Labs" as they are affectionately called, were bred primarily to perform as an efficient retriever of game, with a stable temperament suitable for a variety of activities beyond hunting.
Though Labs do much more than fish these days, one of their defining characteristics is their webbed paws which make them excellent swimmers.
We're not sure if Caroline will be a water dog, but you sing a little Neil Diamond to her, she just might be yours forever.
If you think Caroline is as sweet as we do, let us know and we'd love to introduce you!
